AFRIKA! AFRIKA!, the magical circus adventure from the continent of amazement, is the most successful show ever running in German-speaking Europe. André Heller’s sensual, quick, and energetic discovery of Africa fascinates audiences at all venues in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxemburg and England. In total, more than 3 million people have seen the show. Two productions were touring througout Europe. During the last tent performance in Klagenfurt AFRIKA! AFRIKA! was awarded by oe-ticket for 500.000 tickets sold in Austria. AFRIKA! AFRIKA! will now say farewell to Europe, starting a tour in Asia and the U.S in autumn 2009. Before leaving the continent the magical show will perform a few more gigs in Germany in the hall and open air until 19th June.
Africa can be seen as a continent full of creativity; immeasurably rich in cultural tradition. With acts that are sometimes acrobatic and fast-paced, sometimes gracious and romantic, 100 artists from approximately 20 of Africa’s countries dazzle audiences in two 2.5-hour shows. The 30 meter-tall Chapiteau, the tallest circus tent in Europe, has a capacity for approx. 2,000 guests. It is surrounded by a Moorish tented landscape covered in tapestries, which are grouped around the main tent and connected by a labyrinth of pathways. Since the premiere in December 2005, AFRIKA! AFRIKA! was touring through European metropolises and performed in more than 50 towns in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with its indoor tour. Starting in autumn 2009, AFRIKA! AFRIKA! will go overseas and bring the richness of African culture to the people in Russia, Asia and the U.S.
